Grube Samson Mine

The former silver mine was in operation from 1521 - 1910 and is one of the most important mountain mines in Germany. Today 190 meters below ground it offers an insight into the history of mining. See two large nine meters water wheels, and two cable drums. Just opposite the mine is a museum that introduces the history of the Harzer Canaries, who played a vital role in keeping the miners safe.
