Knesebeck-Schacht

The Schachtangler Knesebeck disused mine was constructed in 1855 and was the last operating ore mine in the Upper Harz, closing in 1992. Now a museum you can see a range of underground mining vehicles, two 12 meter high water wheels, a 47 meter high tower hydraulic compressor, which was built in 1912.
